The Gosteli Library is a unique collection that has developed based on the library of the Federation of Swiss Women's Associations (BSF). It comprises around 12,000 titles and is growing continually thanks to donations, books included in new archival materials, specimen copies and selective acquisitions. The library is freely accessible to everyone during our opening hours.

You will find mainly academic and popular scientific literature on the history of women and women's movements as well as books on women's and gender issues in Switzerland and beyond. Almost half of these are historical brochures on topics such as gender equality, feminism, female jobs and paid work, body and health, leisure, sport, politics, economics and law. The library's holdings also include women's and feminist magazines as well as academic papers that were written using the Gosteli Archive.

The holdings of the Gosteli Library are listed and searchable in the Swisscovery library catalogue as one of Bern's special libraries. It is a reference library: the holdings can be consulted on site in Worblaufen; if multiple copies are available, borrowing is possible.
